OracleWorld 2003 SF Day 3 Was Explosive! ---------------------------------------- By SF 2600 Staff Writer "Police flooded into all the Moscone convention buildings at around 1:45pm on wednesday for unknown reasons later we found out from SGT. Minett of SFPD there was a Major Security Threat directed at the Oracle Corporation and OracleWorld events." San Francisco, CA - Day 4 of OracleWorld was very frantic with a little over 13,000 reported attendees from all around the globe. Early into the day elements of the San Francisco Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation arrived for at first a unknown threat. Officers for a hour were seen talking with Oracle staff and event management requesting for them to evacuate guests. After speaking with numerous guests and other press and journalists we came to find that a credible bomb threat was made to Oracle Corporation and OracleWorld details of the call made havent fully been released. Financial analyst and Industry analyst attending OracleWorld said that they belive this would have a significant impact on Oracle's Internation Relations and could hamper further events put on by Oracle. I spoke with Jeff who wouldnt reveal his last name but was a analyst out of New York working for Charles Scwhaab and he said that this would be impacting Oracle in the stock market as soon as tommorow when the market re-opens. We spoke with numerous guests who were quote "Aggravated with Oracle Corporation for failing to provide adequate security and for not speaking with the press or any of the attendees about the matters". Helicopters and News crews from half a dozen networks and papers including CNN, Chanel 7 and many more flocked to the scene to get interviews from angry and upset attendees. Our experience was unique we asked a Oracle PR member for information and she stated all oracle staff were to not communicate about any events this supposedly ordered by corporate executives. Moscone Events management said of all IT conventions that have came through OracleWorld is the first to ever have any "Bomb Threats" or require evacuation. Just weeks ago IDG global hosted LinuxWorld and upcoming SunNetwork said Lydia Sanchez.
