irQconflict Rocks On!
 by Armadon

The latest irQconflict was the best gaming event we have had, ever. Saturday started with us questioning our ability to handle the turnout, not knowing how many to expect as we recieved a horrendous amount of RSVP's the week before the event. Worried that the Port-a-lan would simply not be enough, small hubs were rounded up to extend the amount of max players. We arrived at Jazz around 16:00 and began setting up, only to find that we were not the first people there. As it turned out, a few players from Rockdale, Texas arrived a full day early due to misreading the flyer. Congratulations to DWilis for winning the URLy byrd award!

As it became dark outside, the event came into full swing. Some new ideas for irQconflict took shape, such as the irQconWebCam, and the first prize Quake III Neon Sign. The DJ's spun all night pleasing the gamerz fragging delights. The Port-a-Lan, with the help of a few external hubs, connected all the computers that were at the event with no problems at all. An digital projector displayed the final matches for everyone to watch. More than enough food was provided for the attendees to satisfy their massive hunger while playing. The games continued on until the last match at 05:00 Sunday morning. After the awards ceremony was complete, rain began to fall on Sixth St. and many of the players decided to stick around a little while longer for several matches of ReVolt!. All in all, the event couldn't have gone any smoother.

m4d pr0ps go out to the winners of the event:
1st: Toxy
2nd: Stasis
3rd: Thrax
4th: Hades
5th: Twister
6th: Katsu
7th: Essobie
Hundreds of dollars in prizes were destributed to the winners as well as numerous impromptu door prizes. The prizes included the awsome Neon Q3 Trophy, Logitech Wingman Force Joysticks, Aureal Vortex 2 PCI sound cards, MadCatz Game Control Systems, Webtricity by Micrographics, anime wall hangings from Animagix of Austin, etc.

Also, I would personally like to thank Swift, Tex, Novus, and Sphere for their excellent help in setting up and making the event run smoothly. I would like to thank TankGrrl, DWilis, and the other women in attendance actually making a Male:Female ratio existant at these events.

But the greatest highlight was the excellent Jazz bartender, Doug, who stayed at the event until the very end providing attendees with ehm. . . "Refreshments". Doug, The Collusion Group salutes you!

So whats planned in the future for the irQconflict, you ask. Well, in my personal opinion, great great things are on their way. We are looking at expanding various aspects of the Conflicts that are currently limiting our capabilities of making the event more fun. We will keep all the aspects of our events that make them unique while allowing more people to experience the atmosphere surrounding irQconflict. We have many ideas that currently are on the drawing board, but your suggestions are always welcome. After all, we hold the events for your pleasure, and rarely ours. So, do you have a comment or a creative suggestion? Submit a response to this article! But just as this event was 100% better than the last, the next event will be the best one yet! I hope to see all of this event's attendees, as well as several newcomers, at the next great irQconflict
