The V3 battery card was ECM'd on January 6 but was back up in a few short hours by Big Guns great work. The V3 software is now in version I (that is version 14).
What the software does is best described from a news bulletin from HoLo of the #satellite channel:
"bat V3 = No BLACKOUTS, Lock and Limits in place, **** NO MORE ECMs *****THINK ABOUT THIS...
-ECM-RUNTIME-SIMULATOR ® ...STEALTH-MODE-AUTO-FIXING-ECM-MACHINE ® (SMAFEM®) IN CASE THE RUNTIME® FAILS...NO MORE LOADER NEEDED NO MORE WAITING FOR MAIN FILES...
-KEEP IN MIND BG WILL ALWAYS IMPROVE HIS STUFF..
-IT COULD BE THE LAST MAIN YOU LOAD IF YOU WANTED TO".
- On January 17th or 18th the V1 battery, L and T cards went down. The V3 battery card didn't go down with this ECM.
-There may be a update for the L cards, more on this next month. The V1 battery cards can be upgraded to V3, this upgrade has been available for over 2 months now. It is past time for the battery card users to support BG, he is doing a great job. A final release for the V2 L card was released but has a nag screen that pops up for 5 minutes when you change channels. So the best hope for the L will be one of the updates that should be available by the time you read this. For more information on the updates visit the #satellite channel in irc.
There seems to be lots of channels popping up in the irc area with satellite in their name and others that are satellite related. If you are looking for any of these channels just go to #satellite and someone there can direct you to them or use the channel search feature in mIRC to find them. I'm not sure of what the changes in the mIRC software are but the current version of mIRC is 4.72.
We have all heard the line "the check is in the mail". Well a twist on that is "the package is in the mail" brings us to my next item. There is a great way to track packages using the internet. If you are the shipper you can use the tracking number on the shipping form to see when a package was delivered and in some cases who signed for it. If you are the person receiving the package you can ask the shipper for the tracking number, with this you can find out when or if the package was shipped. I tried this with Federal Express during the holidays and ran into two problems. One, they say they can use the same number to track up to four packages at the same time. Two, I was told that their computer was not updating as usual during the heavy load time of the holidays. The following is a list of shippers that I have found on the net with the address to their home page. From the home page you should find a link to their tracking software.
Last month on the front page of SWN, on the TTN radio shows and in other news media the patent infringement law suit against the main DSS companies was announced. This law suit was brought by PMC Technology against the main players in the DSS game. Well Telecode has a new set of books out called DSS SECRETS. This three-book set covers the following 25 patents that cover the RCA Digital Satellite System.
The three-book set is the usual first class print and content quality I have come to expect with Telecode. The price of the three-book set is $69.95 postage paid USA. Also this month I received my update to the DSS Bible. The update consist of three new drawings, three pages of printed information and one 1.44 meg 3.5 inch disk with new software. The drawings were a loader for the Battery cards, this will also work with the L card, a drawing of the L-card and a drawing of the Battery card. The DSS Bible and Software disk are available from Telecode for $49.95 postage paid USA. Telecode can be reached at 1-520-726-2833 or on the net at http://www.hackerscatalog.com/ .
Stay tuned next month for a review of Internet Voice software. This software will allow you to have voice communication with another person on the internet (almost free long distance calling). Cappy-1 from the #satellite channel in irc is helping me test these software packages.
Also next month I will have a review of the MK10, from England, and other plastic card programmers. Also a review of the new Pirate Video on DSS from Morgan Engineering.
Don't forget the SWN web sight is up and running at http://i-star.com/dmorgand/index.htm . Or you can e-mail us at dmorgand@i-star.com.
