Well this is the big month DAYTON. If you have never joined us in DAYTON shame on you. Well you can at least listen to us on the radio.
Now for the news. There have been some interesting releases in freeware on the internet. A new windows program surfaced called Merlin. As we go to press Merlin 2.1 was released with two scripts files. These scripts files are similar to xpl files and have the file extension scr. Windows will tell you that a scr file is a screen saver file if you click on one of these files to open it. I have not had time to test the last version of the program but previous versions work great. I was told in the IRC channel #magic that you needed to run Merlin 2 before you run Merlin 2.1, I am not sure at this time what that means. Basically Merlin is a windows version of Explorer, a DOS plastic software program not the Microsoft thing, with some safety and nice add-ons. The following has been posted on the net to explain the freeware out there and work with the plastic programmers I have reported on earlier like the MK unit or the HAKU unit. Due to the amount of common questions being asked about freeware we will try to update this file on a regular basis to help answer these question. 101 is the first installment on basic freeware information. If you r questions go unanswered in channel it's probably because it's a common question. The people in this channel are very helpful to anyone but are constantly bombarded with question's that could be answered with some reading and basic research. So to try to help with all the files in the channel's bot we will try to help with the common questions here. This is no way means to try to run all software without knowing, but to read documents that are included with a particular file. So if your Knuckles Get Spanked with a ruler in Chat you know why!!! 1:CL5005- Activation S/W run in Dos, will activated a virgin or cleaned H card you will also need CLPASS with this S/W to enable the Advanced Module. First run Cl5005 to obtain you MSC# which is then used with CLPASS to get your password. CL5005 will test all channels, tiers can be added to enable sport ticket testing, PPV are on a buy process and usually reach a 25 order or $500 limit which ever is first. 2:CLPASS- Run in Dos, this file will produce your password needed to enable the Advanced Module to work in Cl5005. You will need to get MSC# from Cl5005 first. 3:Ext722- This document contains info on trying to restore you Buy Option when you are seeing the code "Call Customer Service Ext.722" 4:Merlin- is a windows based program to enable communitcation with your card, it is simple to use and operate. (Alternative : Explorer Dos) When people ask what will it do this or that the answer is... I twill do what you tell it to do with the use of .xpl files. What ever the .xpl is designed to do will determine what output should be. 5:un0918- This file can be run in merlin, it will remove updates on cards showing 18 update total. After use card will no longer recieve DTV updates which could be good and bad. After using file you will be able to test card with activation of choice. You might want to look into putting updates back on with other S/W. 6:4m1- To be used to make all ppv's open. 4m1 is used after activation and for cards that have used un0918.xpl. 4m.xpl is for virgins and 4m2.xpl cards showing dtv 1 update. Be warned that the 4m software is vulnerable to 99 which will render card useless. 4m does not enable channel 248 which has been a DTV ecm test channel. Not Good! 7:info=removing updates- Self explanitory. 8:Undo3m4m- Should be run in dos by typing "whorefix.bat" it will run program on it's own and if succesful will remove 4m from your card and leave your card with 18 updates which can then be removed with un0918.xpl then activated with your choice of S/W. 9:Un23- This contains files to remove updates put on by axacard2 and with the use of t23.xpl reapply the 23 updates after your programming is completed.The Open23.xpl file needs to be edited for each card. If you have problems figuring out correct information. Use add2.xpl. 10:Add2.xpl- This is a generator to make your own un23.xpl file this is a follow step by step program. Takes away the need to inout info and edit open23.xpl. Misc File info: Axacard2 - Dos - For cards that have 4m on, and attempt to repair 09 hole and to add 23 updates. Read feature can give hex # and update count. Un23 is only way to remove at this time. p2upd8 - Dos - Used to read the updates on a H card upd8all - Dos - Used to put 18 updates on H card. explorer - Dos -.xpl sender. need to be careful to have proper settings when using.
I hope this info is helpfult to all. As new files are added and info is compiled we will make changes to this file on a regular basis. 101 is first issue and will go in order 102..103.. this way you may track new info easier.
