Setting up the Win95 Dialer to establish a Connection to CompuServe
-------------------------------------------------------------------

1)If you have The Internet icon on your desktop, right click on that
icon and choose Properties from the menu. If that icon is not there,
you will want to check in the My Computer -> Control Panel area for
the Internet icon(if you do not have either of these then see the
Special Instructions section at the bottom of this text).

2)In the Internet Properties window, click on the New Connection
button(If you have installed version 3.0 of MS Internet Explorer you
will need to click on the Connection tab and choose Add).

3)Type in CompuServe for the connection name and click on the Next
button.

4)Enter the local access phone number that you wish to use and then
click on the Next button.

5)Click on the Finish button.

6)Next, click on the Properties button.

7)Now click on the Configure button. Then click on the Connection
tab and then click on the Advanced button and make sure that Error
Correction is checked and that Compress Data is unchecked(using Data
Compression will usually slow down your connection). Then click OK
on the Advanced Connection Settings window and OK on the Modem
Properties window to return to the CompuServe window.

8) Next, click on the Server Type button.

9)The Type of Server should be PPP:Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5,
Internet. Then, uncheck everything except TCP/IP (using data
compression will usually slow down your connection) and click on the
TCP/IP Settings button.

10) Choose Server assigned IP Address and then choose Specify name
server addresses and enter 149.174.211.5 for the Primary and
149.174.213.5 for the Secondary. Check both Use IP header
compression and Use default gateway on remote network. Next, click
on OK on the TCP/IP Settings window, OK on the Server Types window,
OK on the CompuServe window, then click on the APPLY button, and
then the OK button on the Internet Properties window.

11)To finish the setup, you will need to use the Dial-Up Scripting
Tool which can be accessed from the START -> Programs -> Accessories
menu and click on Dial-up Scripting Tool(if the Dial-Up Scripting
Tool is not there then see the Special Instructions section at the
bottom of this text).

12)Once in the Dial-Up Scripting Tool, make sure the CompuServe
connection is highlighted on the left and then click on the Browse
button.

13)Click on the Cis.scp file and then click on the Open button.

14)Make sure that the Step through script option is unchecked and
that the Start terminal screen minimized option is checked. Then
click on the Apply button and then click on the Close button.

15)You should now be able to select The Internet icon on your
desktop or use the Compuserve connectoid icon in the Dial-up
Networking folder to initiate the PPP connection to CompuServe.
The first time you start the connection you will need to enter your
CompuServe User ID number in the Username field and your password
in the Password field. If you wish to use WinCIM over that
connection, you will want to make sure that the Use Winsock option
is selected in the SPECIAL -> Session Settings area of WinCIM. You
will also want to re-name the WINSOCK.DLL file located in the
\CSERVE\WINCIM and \CSERVE\MOSAIC directories to WINSOCK.CIM
(*note*, you will have to start the PPP connection before you
start WinCIM).

------------------------------------------------------------------
If you do not have the Internet icon on your desktop or in the
Control Panel then you would need to download and install
MS Internet Explorer. You can download MS Internet Explorer from
CompuServe by using the GO INTEXPLORER command(in WinCIM click on
the green traffic light and type in INTEXPLORER). Once you have
downloaded the file you will need to double click on that file to
start the installation process.

If you do not have the Dial-up Scripting Tool you can download it
from CompuServe using the GO MSL1829 command(in WinCIM click on the
green traffic light and type in MSL1829). You will want to place
that file into an empty directory and double click on that file to
decompress it. Once you have double clicked on DSCRPT.EXE to extract
the files you will need to right click on the RNAPLUS.INF file while
in the Windows Explorer and select the Install option.
