Early ADI Mods Early ADI Modifications * In the early 1990s ADI produced several radios in an attempt to break into the amateur radio market. These included the AT-18 and Sender 145 (both for VHF) and the AT-48 and Sender 450 (UHF). All of these radios used the same modification procedure. The expansion is listed below. NOTE: In the U.S. it is illegal to use this radio on any band for which it is not type accepted and on which you are not licensed. Perform this modification at your own risk! 1) Turn the radio on. 2) Hold down the "F" key and press the "LAMP / A" key. The radio's lamp will light. 3) Hold down the "F" key and press the "PL / B" key. The letter "PL" will be displayed on the display. 4) Hold down the "F" key and press "0." 5) Press the "5" key. The display will show both "PL" and "APO." 6) Hold down the "F" key and press "0." 7) Press the "8" key. The transmit frequency range of the unit will now be expanded. If you ever need to return to the factory default frequency range of the radio you must use the following procedure. Simply performing a soft reset (by turning the radio on while holding down the "F" key) will NOT return the radio to it's default frequency settings! The display will show both "PL" and "APO." 6) Hold down the "F" key and press "0." 7) Press the "9" key. The radio now returns to default (amateur band only) frequency coverage. NOTE: Some later versions of the AT-18, AT-48, Sender 145, and Sender 450 used the same frequency expansion procedure as the AT-200 / 400. If the expansion procedure listed above does not work on your radio try using the expansion for the AT-200 or the AT-400 instead. * Back to home *
