If you remove W1 which is a green wire located on the "Control Unit" board which resides in the front of the rig, you will get transmit from 142-152 MHz and from 420-450 MHz. To go one step further, lift (or remove) D4 which is located near W1. This will let the radio be capable of transmitting anywhere it can hear. (136-174 & 335-512) The rig is capable of transmitting, it however is limited by the VCO's. Which is to say it will transmit through just about the entire 2m. range and about a 50 MHz spread on UHF. The VCO's are adjustable (transmit & receive). If you are interested in receiving (or transmitting) out of band (on UHF especially) I recomend you get a service manual. It is well worth the price. 73, Ray WA6TKV @ N6IIU
