Remove, power, antenna, top and bottom covers. 2. Detach front panel assembly. 3. Locate and cut the GREEN wire on the control board on the body of the radio. This wire is towards the left of the board. 4. Locate and cut resistor R58. It is blue colored and located on the control board. This is the X-band modification. 5. Reassemble the radio. To use the cross-band repeat option, select one band using the [Band Select] key (PTT will light up). Select the other band by pressing the [Control Select] key. This will set the band for two way cross band repeat. The green light on the key will light. If you want to repeat in one direction only (ie, no Auto Band Change) then use only the [Band Select] key and don't select a second band. To turn on/off the repeater mode, press [F] and then [Mute]. Do you require the expanded RF mods as well? With the appropriate modules, the 741 will recieve, after mods, 18 - 54 Mhz 50 - 90 MHz 118 - 174 MHz 215 - 260 MHz 410 - 470 MHz 1100 - 1400 MHz Jan Chojnacki VE7 FJC
