To : wb6llo From : EA4RJ Hello Dave I just download the message addressed to EA4LE, Antonio, and I believe that I can help you. My first 70cm rig was a TR-851, and I took the same operation than you! Memorize the steps each 2.5KHz, hi! Then, I saw a message from an european fellow, regarding how to make the mods for a TR-751. I made this on my rig (TR-851), and tested. It worked very fine!! So, here are the mods: TR-751A/E and TR-851A/E stepping mods. 1. Remove the top and bottom covers of your radio, be careful do not damage the speaker PCB-plug/connecting cables. 2. Remove the 4 screws holding the front panel. 3. Carefully pull the front out of its position and fold it aside. 4. The PCB where the front panel connectors are placed is our target. 5. Locate the 3 to 4 rows of diodes in the right hand corner. * 1 KHz/50 Hz stepping in the SSB/CW mode: 6. Locate diode D16, cut it and separate the leads. 7. Check to see that your dial now is stepping in 1 KHz increments. With F.STEP ON, 50 Hz increments. * 12.5 KHz/1 KHz stepping in the FM mode: 8. Locate vacant diode D13, and insert a 1N4448 diode. 7. Check to see that your dial now is stepping in 1 KHz increments, with F.STEP ON. (12.5 KHz at OFF). 8. Assemble your radio again, please check that all leads are un-squeezed. These mods are based on articles from Ron (SM3MZY) and Pino (IK7ETH) Best regards from EA4RJ (ex EA4BPN) That's all. Have a happy new year 1993!!! P.S. I am reading your very interestings experience with the quadf antennas. You are making a good job! 73 from Rafael, EA4RJ @ UOSAT5 AMSAT-UK #4526
