I should have included a note to that effect in my original post... :-) It just got too tedious after doing it over and over... I saw another one of them in a yard sale just a few weeks ago, and probably could have gotten it for next to nothing, but didn't even try, since I figured that keypad would be as flaky as mine. A keypad -- for radio tuning and clock setting -- is a great concept, but I guess they figured they couldn't afford to put in real key switches instead of the cheap-and-dirty method they used when they produced it. Too bad -- if that particular model had been made with a reliable keypad, the use of direct-entry clock/alarm/radio tuning setting might be standard on ALL clock radios by now! Yes, I have the same GE radio and the same keypad troubles. My wife found it in the trash and I fixed it -- and I had to "keep fixing it" every couple of months. It has been sitting in my office since the last time I had the patience to fix it -- 2 years ago. :-) -- ============================================================================== Copyright 1993, Bob Parnass, AJ9S AT&T Bell Laboratories - parnass@ih4gp.att.com - (708)979-5414 From wa2ise Thu Oct 14 11:52:29 PDT 1993 Article: 27359 of rec.radio.shortwave Newsgroups: rec.radio.shortwave Path: netcom.com!wa2ise From: wa2ise@netcom.com (Robert Casey) Subject: Re: SuperRadio III = Terrible AM? You have to take the radio apart (The top lifts off after you remove the screws accessable from the bottom, but remove all the slider knobs from the volume and switches first, the pots and switches stay with the bottom) and then remove the face of the keypad, and then use some tuner cleaner spray and polish with some strips of paper the contacts under the metal that gets depressed by the plastic button. This should last for a few months before you have to do it again, these keypad switches suck. Radio performance is OK but is no DX machine, that's sure.
