Crypto iButton Ordering Information

The Crypto iButton™, which contains copyrighted software, is a licensed product, not sold. Depending on the application, it may be subject to export or import restrictions according to the regulations of a specific country because of its strong cryptography.

For these reasons, you must fill out either the Secured Computer or Evaluation click-through license agreement below before we can license the Crypto iButton. If you do not fill out a click-through license, the order will not be processed.

Licensing Options
The Crypto iButton can be licensed as a personal wearable computer through Dallas Semiconductor. If the Crypto iButton will be deployed on a particular operating system, please select the Secured Computer License. The Crypto iButton Secured Computer License is available at a cost of $12 issuance fee and $12 maintenance, support, and usage fee (plus shipping and handling).

The Crypto iButton Evaluation License is available for up to 10 Crypto iButtons total, at a cost of $12 issuance fee and $12 maintenance, support, and usage fee (plus shipping and handling). Developers and service providers who issue large quantities may be granted price reductions.

For current licensees, a faulty Crypto iButton will be replaced, at no charge, while the maintenance, support, and usage fee is current. Please see the provisions of your license agreement for details.

Software Development Tools
Development tools can be downloaded at no charge and royalty-free to holders of either the Secured Computer or Evaluation License. We offer software tools for each version of the Crypto iButton:

Crypto iButton with Java VM: http://www.iButton.com/jibkit/index.html
Crypto iButton with Dallas O/S: http://www.iButton.com/Crypto/swdev_tools.html

Hardware Needed
In order for your Crypto iButton to talk to your computer, you will also need a Connectivity Pack. Available from this site for $15 each, the Connectivity Pack consists of a Blue Dot receptor and either a serial or parallel port adapter. If your development environment is mixed (PCs, UNIX workstations, etc.), the serial adapter will be more appropriate. For strictly PC development, the parallel adapter provides pass-through communication through the printer port.

Crypto iButton Accessories
The iButton may be worn on the accessory of you choice (key fob, watch, badge, ring, key ring, or wallet). The accessories are sold separately. Currently, ring designs have the Crypto iButton permanently mounted and the ring is sold in combination with the iButton license.
