How do the original manufacturers feel about some of the diagrams you blatently ripped off from their technical manuals? I usually post a link to the site I archive information from, in this instance, it was just off some generic server that I guess had archvied your information already. At that point I figured the information was in the public domain, as it is basically transcribed right out of the manufacturers manuals. Archiving the information seemed like a good idea because it could only help people if multiple copies of the same information were available at various locations on the net, eliminating a single point of failure. If we can come to an arrangement other than just pulling this information off of the site, let me know. Otherwise I will pull the page and let people that had come to use the site as a resource know why they are no longer there. You know very much better, as each of the drawing contain my Trademark, and have the embedded copyright statement in the binary. Add to that, all the OEMs who I have drawn I/O of their devices have provided me with signed permission statements, which is more than you have done. You did NOT ask for and have not provided links or conspictious statemts of credit to the author(s). Therefore you are in violation of at least 58 counts of copyright and trademarks thefts. These drawings are copyright by BUX Commco, and CQ Magazine. Your actions are blatent theft and dissregard of our work and research! I have today contacted Hoyt Bradford and associates to pursue theft of copyright and trademark violation(s) of more than 58 counts. 73 de Buck Rogers K4ABT --- From: Brian Oblivion [mailto:oblivion@sinister.com] Sent: Monday, July 01, 2002 11:35 AM To: Bux Commco Subject: Re: BCC: BradFORD@AsstLAWn; Violation/THEFT of Copyright and trademark data. > > You did NOT ask for and have not provided links or conspictious > statemts of credit to the author(s). Therefore you are in violation of > at least 58 counts of copyright and trademarks thefts. > You are right, I didn't ask for your permission, as I've already said, I obtained these images, not from your site, but from another site that also archived the informative images. As I didn't doctor up the images, I didn't feel that your copyright was violated. However that is all water under the bridge and you didn't answer the primary question in my last email: Can we remedy this now or is it all sour grapes? > > Your actions are blatent theft and dissregard of our work and > research! > Acutally they are the contrary, as I found the illustrations useful enough to mirror them and display for others free of charge and gain no monetary benefit from them, nor do they cause you any monetary damages. You should be humbled. It isn't like they are being sold in a book. Did you have to pay any money to view the images on my site? No, you did not. Do I have to pay any money to view them off of your site? No, I do not. As a matter of fact, people viewing the images on my site could follow a url embedded in some of the images to your site, increasing _your_ site traffic. > I have today contacted Hoyt Bradford and associates to pursue theft of > copyright and trademark violation(s) of more than 58 counts. > Brian PS: 9 days and counting, or are you not a man of your word? ------ Date: Mon, 1 Jul 2002 12:41:21 -0400 From: Bux Commco To: 'Brian Oblivion' Subject: RE: BCC: BradFORD@AsstLAWn; Violation/THEFT of Copyright and trademark data. 1) I am a MAN of my word. 2) You have yet to ask permission. 3) You have yet to place a prominent link to the source! Buck, My comments are threaded below: > 1) > I am a MAN of my word. I'm glad to here that, as am I. > 2) > You have yet to ask permission. Buck, from the onset you have been nothing but hostile and aggressive, threatening litigation. You made yourself out to be beyond the 'ask for permission stage' which is why I have not come right out and done so, and why I keep asking if we can come to agreement where I put a link on the page in question, the information remains up, and we both walk away happy. If this is not a possibly just say so, and I'll take the page down immediately. Otherwise provide the link you want to be posted on the page in question. > 3) > You have yet to place a prominent link to the source! > See above. > We've been advised to to reserve further comment, and to allow this to > go to the courts, if you have not made suitable changes by July 11th, > 2002 @ 3:00PM EDST. > Try and answer this last email so we can rap this up immedately.
