Programming the Radio Shack BTX-127
a.k.a. 19-1206
"You've got questions, we've got shrugs"
Radio Shack seems to have removed information from its manual on the
BTX-127. But here is what they have removed. Viva la Revolucion!
- Open the radio's battery compartment.
- Use a paperclip, pen, or something similar to change the settings of
the DIP switches. UP (towards the antenna) is ON, or 1, DOWN is OFF,
or 0. The leftmost switch, as you look at the DIP switches, is switch
1.
- set switch 1 OFF.
- chart of frequencies:
switch 2-6 settings | Frequency (MHz) | channel

00000 | 151.625 | Red | No |
00100 | 151.700 | Olive

00001 | 151.955 | Purple | No |
00010 | 154.570 | Blue | Yes |
00011 | 154.600 | Green | Yes |
* = these didn't have official color names, so I gave them my own.
- The radio can be programmed with other frequencies "by your authorized
Radio Shack service center". Maybe someone will figure out how to
DIY.
- Sometimes the radio will act strange when you try to set the
frequency, beeping, the LED blinking or going out. Just keep trying.
- unlisted channels go to 154.600. these are probably what can be
programmed by the "service center".
