WaveMODEM wireless LAN module brings Lucent Technologies' proven wireless
communications technology to integrators who wish to add license-free,
high-speed data communications support to their product platform.
The WaveMODEM is interoperable with Lucent Technologies' industry awarded
WaveLAN AT/ISA, WaveLAN/PCMCIA and WavePOINT bridge products.
With all Radio Frequency (RF) analog technology built in, the WaveMODEM
RF module enables application of digital engineering skills to quickly
integrate wireless connectivity into remote ormobile applications.
Two models are available:
Both models are available for 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz (multi-channel) frequency bands

WaveMODEM incorporates Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) Technology
to provide high-speed data transmission. The design combines Direct Sequence
modulation, a patented dual antenna design (for antenna diversity, both
on-board or external), and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) architecture
to provide robust and error free communications. Modem connections to the
hardware platform and LAN connections are simplified via the WaveMODEM
Modem Management Interface (MMI).
The WaveMODEM is equipped with a number of diagnostic and evaluation options
for the integrator . For the end-user a variety of tools can be made available
to configure the WaveMODEM, validate communications quality, configurations
and applications in intended operational environments.
WaveMODEM technology can be incorporated into a wide variety of applications that require online and mobile communications support.

The WaveMODEM module includes a Serial Data Interface for transferring data to and from the host using the following signals; a subset of these signals enables various customer defined interfaces:

The WaveMODEM assembly module (without housing), has been designed for
integration into host computer systems.
The assembly module is available with or without two omni-directional LIFA
antennas.
Modules without LIFA antennas have an additional single row 3-pin connector
to pass on the antenna signal between an external antenna and the modem.
The encapsulated module can be attached externally to a host computer system. The module interfaces to the host via a 45 cm cable. 22 and 100 cm cables or customized housing color are available on request. Features include:
