Who Was Gerald Bull? Gerald Bull, born in 1928, was an aerospace engineer. He graduated from the Aerospace Engineering department of the University of Toronto in 1951, the youngest Ph.D. in its history. He developed some long-range artillery pieces for the Unites States. His main project was launching of space materials, and eventually satellites. His super cannon used low-ballistic and continuous-burn projectiles.

	Worked For Iraq Iraq was awash in oil revenues and was financing anything involved with medical, space, and computer technology. Bull designed a giant cannon that was used to launch satellites.

 

	Prototype Space Gun This is a 160' model that shot projectiles 170 kilometers. The second phase was HARP, and used a low-ballistic shell that shot Martlet 4 projectiles. Martlets were rockets that ignited and acted as a 2nd booster.

 

	Actual Space Gun This was 500', with a 3' bore, and had a 500 km range. A video shows the gun would be able to fire a 600-kilogram projectile to a range of 1,000 kilometers, or fire a 2,000 kg rocket-assisted projectile into orbit. Israel said it was a threat, even though it was a permanent launcher, that was built into a hill, and didn't even point at Israel. It took years to build, and could have been taken out by one F-16 in a few hours.

 

Yitzak Rabin	Israel Assassinates Bull Bull was warned that he couldn't work with Iraq, but he didn't listen .In March of 1990, Bull was killed outside his apartment by five shots to the back of his head.

 

	Scientific Community Fellow scientists regarded Bull as a genius. It is people like Bull, Verner Von Braun, and Burt Rutan with his 'Spaceship One' project, that could have revolutionized space. Iraq could have financed the development, and the whole world would have benefited.
