chips for level conversion, neccessary for test mode and reprogramming
access in many cellular phones, among other uses.
The MAX-203 is a one-chip design with no other
components neccessary, however that chip is not readily available in all
areas. The MAX-232 is more widely available,
but the circuit requires a few capacitors.
