Overview of the satellite tuner module.  This particular module is from a Standard Satellite Receiver, Agile 24PC.

Control inputs for the tuner.  Left to right, Voltage Tune, AGC, +15 VDC, -15 VDC, +5 VDC, Prescalar Output, Ground and the RCA jack is the IF output.  The -15 VDC, +5 VDC and Prescalar Output lines are not needed, and the +15 VDC line will work with only +12 VDC.

Internal view showing the local oscillator tap.  The normal local oscillator frequency range is from around 1.3 to 2.1 GHz.  A Voltage Tune voltage on this module of around 3.6 VDC gives us a local oscillator frequency of 1.575 GHz.  This routes through some small coax to a SMA jack.
