What Terrorism?	Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano avoids the terms "terrorism" or "9/11" in remarks prepared for her first congressional testimony since taking office, signaling a sharp change in tone from her predecessors. Napolitano is the first homeland security secretary to drop the term "terror" from remarks prepared for delivery to the House Homeland Security Committee, according to a copy obtained by The Associated Press. She also uses the word "attacks" less than her predecessors, although she makes clear that the department's responsibility is protecting the nation against terrorism. Napolitano is not alone in her departure from terror talk. Obama has avoided using the term "war on terror." The Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Mississippi Democrat Bennie Thompson, doesn't mention terrorism or 9/11 in his prepared remarks for Wednesday's hearing either. Securing the borders, responding to natural disasters, ensuring transportation safety, protecting critical infrastructure and administering grants are the priorities, The administration's intelligence officials still consider the potential for terrorist attack on the U.S. a serious concern and send messages of "not if, but when." Pressed further on the absence of terror vernacular, she said she has been working with members of Obama's national security team since the November election, and she's regularly briefed on "incidents around the world." She doesn't single out terrorism "because it's almost become part and parcel of what we do everyday." I had to laugh. This AP article reports on an administration that has dropped the word terror/terrorism from its lexicon -- but has to use the word 26 times to do it. Maybe Obama will start calling a duck a duck -- the enemy's ideology is Islamofascism -- its actors are Islamic fascists -- and its goal is world-wide submission to Sharia, Islamic law -- but somehow, I doubt it.
Obama Unbridled	Anyone who thought the recession and financial market turmoil would moderate Obama's policy ambitions discovered the opposite last night. Far from suggesting limits on Congress or federal spending, he made clear in his first address to the country that he believes in government power as the answer to our current difficulties, and he intends to use it. Obama is slowly revealing himself as a man who meant what he said going back to the primaries. He believes in the power of the state to drive prosperity, to reform the financial system and health care, and even to transform the entire energy economy. Obama said at one point that he didn't believe in government for its own sake, but his policy emphasis showed otherwise. Obama clearly believes the recession has created a political moment when Americans are frightened enough to be open to a new era of expanded government. The question is whether his vast ambitions will allow the private economy to grow enough even to begin to pay for it all. Suggested reading: The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" of manufactured crisis seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse. Obama is keenly aware of this concept and he's employing it with vigor. He even admits he is doing it.
More Obama Transparency	Obama has directed defense officials to sign a pledge stating they will not share 2010 budget data with individuals outside the federal government. In an undated non-disclosure agreement obtained by Defense News, the administration tells defense officials that "strict confidentiality" must be practiced to ensure a "successful and proper" 2010 defense budget process. The secrecy pact comes as dozens of Bush-era Pentagon appointees remain on the job, asked to stay on by the Obama administration until replacements are confirmed to ensure continuity during wartime. The administration is requiring defense officials to promise they will not divulge the kinds of information covered in the document "to any individual not authorized to receive it." "Under no circumstances will I disclose such information outside the Department of Defense and other government agencies directly involved in the defense planning and resource-allocation process, such as the Office of Management and Budget," the agreement said. Not to worry -- I am confident that The New York Times will continue its policy of divulging defense secrets, just like it did during the Bush administration -- extreme sarcasm alert.
Muslim Apologist Set To Chair National Intelligence Council	Since it was revealed over the last few days that Chas Freeman is apparently slated to head the Obama administration's National Intelligence Council, much evidence has been presented linking him to pro-Islamist, anti-Israel sentiments. Now the Middle East Forum is reporting that Freeman received $1 million from the Saudis for public relations services, "Chas Freeman, reportedly nominated to head the National Intelligence Council preparing finished National Intelligence Estimates for President Obama, acknowledged in 2006 that the $1 million donation to his Middle East Policy Council that he received from "the generosity of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia" was for public relations in the United States." Going back to Obama's "community" work in Chicago it has been long apparent that he is no supporter of Israel, his close friendship with former PLO official Rashid Khalidi being symptomatic. Given the already alarming information surfacing on Freeman, the prospect of him being associated with U.S. intelligence at any level should give pause for great concern among those in the West who are still intent upon meeting the challenge of the Islamic jihad in both its violent as well as stealth modes. Freeman's potential to skew intelligence at the Council in support of his Islamism is extremely troubling and nothing that we have read encapsulates that better than something he wrote in 2006. "...We have paid heavily and often in treasure in the past for our unflinching support and unstinting subsidies of Israel's approach to managing its relations with the Arabs. Five years ago we began to pay with the blood of our citizens here at home. We are now paying with the lives of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines on battlefields in several regions of the realm of Islam, with more said by our government's neoconservative mentors to be in prospect..." In the space of just these few words Freeman displays a breathtaking level of ignorance -- blaming the 9/11 terror attacks on U.S. support for the only democracy in the Middle East, casting Israel as the villain in matters pertaining to "the realm of Islam," [a term of great currency in radical Muslim circles] and blames our presence in Iraq also on our support of that tiny Jewish nation, especially due to the the work of the "neoconservatives," an anti-Semitic code in common parlance among leftist Jew haters. With Obama's tilt towards the Palestinians already evident, the addition of Freeman into the mix will turn an already seriously flawed Mid-East policy into a disaster in short course.

Second Soldier Challenges Eligibility	Another U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq is joining a challenge to President Obama's eligibility to be commander-in-chief. "I was inspired by Lt. Easterling's story and am writing you to inform you that I would like to be added as a plaintiff against Obama as well if you feel it would help your case," the soldier, identified for this report only as a reservist now on active duty in Iraq. His letter was directed to California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her DefendOurFreedom.us Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama's birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution. The second soldier wrote, "I am an Army reservist who was activated last August and am currently serving with a military police battalion in Camp Bucca, Iraq. I will be here until at least June 2009." He continued, "When I enlisted last year I had to show my birth certificate, as well as my driver's license, high school diploma, college transcripts, social security card; I also filled out loads of paperwork to include listing the names, addresses and phone numbers of my family members and had to answer any questions regarding foreign travel. "I think it is reasonable for Obama to prove his citizenship status thus certifying his eligibility. I too raised my right hand and swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States. I believe the case you are filing could very well determine if we are in fact a Constitutional Republic or a nation of mob rule. I would be honored to be a part of your efforts."
