MDTW1234 Revision B by Bonzo. If you have not constructed an interface circuit, download ALLINONE.ZIP which contains detailed instructions. Two new command-line switches are implemented in Revision B. /OUT will route intercepted data to a second computer for more sophisticated processing. A demonstration program called Listener/MDT V1.1 Beta has been included for your enjoyment. /H or /? will give on-screen help. MDTW1234 is a version of the original MDTSTUFF.C with a few new command line switches. Com1, Com2 and Com3 are tested and working. Com4 is not yet tested but should work just fine. It is recommended that you construct the All-In-One interface described in the file ALLINONE.ZIP which is included with this distribution. ALLINONE.ZIP contains a parts list, construction tips, a circuit diagram and a suggested board layout, plus tips for first-time builders who don't know a diode from a resistor. The files CIRCUIT.GIF and MDTW1234.GIF are earlier designs of the data slicer. CIRCUIT.GIF is from the PD204 POCSAG Paging Decoder software and MDTW1234.GIF is the same circuit with two resistors removed to facilitate use with a discriminator output. These two files let you see how the ALLINONE has evolved to provide additional functionality. These plans make use of a 25pin null-modem adapter from your local computer supply. It should have a case that can be opened, since you will build your interface inside this shell AND you will be replacing the 25pin Male connector with the 25Pin Female connector that you need to purchase separately. Revision B of MDTW1234 supports the /OUT command line switch which allows intercepted data to be routed out the Com port to a second PC for further processing. In order to use this facility, you will need to construct the interface described in ALLINONE.ZIP. If you do not plan to utilise the /OUT command line switch, then you can use the MDTW1234.GIF interface which is a slightly modified version of the PD204 interface described in CIRCUIT.GIF. Both of these files are included in ALLINONE.ZIP for your convenience. Connect the second PC to your ALLINONE.GIF interface using a standard 25pin Serial cable. No null-modem adapter is required because the ALLINONE.GIF circuit has incorporated that function. Revision B also supports /H or /? to obtain online help. This program supports command line switches as follows: /COM:1 - selects Com1 for input from data slicer (default) /COM:2 - selects Com2 for input from data slicer /COM:3 - selects Com3 for input from data slicer /COM:4 - selects Com4 for input from data slicer /OUT - enabled intercepts to be sent out the same serial port to another PC for further processing at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit. The receiving program will need to enable the DTR line. /RE - reverses input polarity /WS - selects wide-screen (Non-Hex) output to screen (default is Hex-Narrow output) /WF - selects wide-file (Non-Hex) output to data file (default is Hex-Narrow output) This file is suitable for keyword searches and takes less space than the hex-character equivalent The standard IRQs and base addresses for the Com ports are used. A program called DRIV1234 has been supplied with this package. It runs MDTW1234 repeatedly, and saves the output in a timestamped file for later review and keyword search. Pressing F1 will cause DRIV1234 to terminate. All source code is included for your enlightenment. Please post any comments regarding this program to rec.radio.scanner or alt.radio.scanner with "MDTW1234" in the Subject. If you run into problems, please read the MDTW1234 FAQ at http://spectrum.base.org/ or http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lab/1067/ and watch "spectrum" for future updates to MDTW1234 and Listener/MDT. -Bonzo-
