8 mm/VHS-C Camcorder Battery Conditioner/Charger
(230-0248) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 15197
The Radio Shack 8 mm/VHS-C Camcorder Battery Conditioner/Charger is an
example of superior design and craftsmanship. These suggestions will help
you care for your conditioner/charger so you can enjoy it for years.
Keep the conditioner/charger dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry
immediately. Liquids can contain minerals that can corrode electronic
circuits.
Use and store your conditioner/charger only in normal temperature
environments. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic
devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts.
Handle the conditioner/charger gently and carefully. Dropping it can
damage circuit boards and cases and can cause the conditioner/charger
to work improperly.
Keep the conditioner/charger away from dust and dirt, which can cause
premature wear of parts.
Wipe the conditioner/charger with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it
looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong
detergents to clean your conditioner/charger.
Modifying or tampering with the conditioner/charger's internal components
can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty. If your
conditioner/charger is not performing as it should, take it to your local
Radio Shack store for assistance.
Changing The Fuse
If the conditioner/charger does not work using vehicle battery power, the
conditioner/charger's fuse might be blown. Replace it with a 1.25 Amp
fast-acting fuse.
CAUTION: Using a slow-blow fuse or a fuse with a higher current rating
might damage the conditioner/charger or the camcorder's
rechargeable battery.
NOTE: Before you replace the conditioner/charger's fuse, make sure the
vehicle's cigarette-lighter fuse is not blown.
Follow these steps to replace the conditioner/charger's fuse.
1. Remove the knurled nut from the larger plug on the DC adapter cord.
2. Pull out the adapter's tip and fuse.
3. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a fuse of the same rating.
4. Replace the knurled nut on the DC adapter cord.
CAUTION: Do not use pliers to tighten the knurled nut. Use only your
fingers.
