General Charging Hints

For best results, keep these hints in mind:

Charge only nickel-cadmium batteries in your charger.

WARNING: If you try to charge other types of batteries, they could
           explode.

Completely discharge the batteries before you charge them. Charging
batteries that are not discharged can shorten their useful life.

It is normal for the batteries to become warm while charging.

Do not charge batteries in areas colder than about 60 degrees F. The
batteries do not fully charge when they are cold.

CAUTION: Do not charge batteries in areas warmer than about 85 degrees F.
Doing so can permanently reduce their ability to charge.

NOTES: You can only charge either two AA or two AAA batteries at the same
time in the same battery chamber.

You cannot charge only one AA or AAA battery in a battery chamber.

We recommend you leave the cover open when you charge AA batteries
to avoid the buildup of excessive heat, which can shorten the
       battery's useful life.

Charging Batteries

Follow these steps to charge batteries.

1. Place the batteries in either or both battery chambers, observing
correct polarity (+ and -) as shown in each chamber. See "Introduction"
    for the possible charging configurations.

2. Plug the charger into a household AC outlet. The charger begins to
    charge the batteries.

NOTE: If the indicator does not turn on when you plug the charger into
an AC outlet, be sure you have inserted the batteries with the
proper polarity (+ and -). If you have installed them correctly,
unplug the charger, remove the batteries, and clean their contact
surfaces. Then, reinstall the batteries and plug in the charger.
If the problem persists, either the charger or one of the batt-
eries you are trying to charge is faulty.

3. Unplug the charger from the AC outlet for about 7 hours, and remove the
    batteries.

NOTE: Even though you can leave the batteries in the charger indefinitely,
to prolong their useful life, remove the batteries after they are
      fully charged.
