If you have problems, here are some suggestions that might help. If none
of these suggestions help, take your scanner to your local RadioShack
store for assistance.

PROBLEM
Keys do not work or display changes at random.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         Undetermined error.

         REMEDY
         Reset the scanner.

PROBLEM
Scanner is on but will not scan.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         The SQUELCH control is not correctly adjusted.

         REMEDY
         Adjust SQUELCH clockwise.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         Only one channel or no channels are programmed.

         REMEDY
         Program more than one channel.

PROBLEM
Scanner is totally inoperative.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         No power.

         REMEDY
         Check the batteries, or make sure the scanner is plugged into a
         working AC or DC outlet.

         Recharge the re- chargeable batteries or replace the non-
         rechargeable batteries.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         The optional AC or DC power adapter is not connected.

         REMEDY
         Be sure the adapter is fully inserted into the DC 12V jack.

PROBLEM
The scanner's display play dims or the scanner sounds a tone every 15-30
seconds.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         Batteries are not cor correctly installed.

         REMEDY
         Make sure the batteries' + and  terminals are properly aligned.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         Batteries need to be replaced.

         REMEDY
         Insert new batteries or re charge rechargeable batteries.

PROBLEM
Keypad does not work.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         The keylock function is activated.

         REMEDY
         Press KEYLOCK until disappears from the display to turn off the
         keylock.

PROBLEM
-B- flashes on the display.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         The batteries are weak.

         REMEDY
         Recharge the rechargeable batteries, or replace the non-
         rechargeable batteries. 

PROBLEM
Poor or no reception.

         POSSIBLE CAUSES
         Batteries are weak or dead.

         Environment is not suitable for reception by the scanner.

         Improperly connected antenna.

         REMEDIES
         Check the batteries, or make sure the scanner is plugged into a
         working AC or DC outlet.

         Relocate the scanner and try again.
 
         Be sure the antenna is properly connected.

PROBLEM
Error appears on the display.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         Programming error.

         REMEDY
         Reprogram the frequency correctly.

PROBLEM
In the scan mode, the scanner locks on frequencies that have an unclear
transmission.

         POSSIBLE CAUSE
         Programmed frequencies are the same as "birdie" frequencies.

         REMEDY
         Avoid programming frequencies listed under "Birdie Frequencies" 
         or only listen to them manually. 

RESETTING THE SCANNER

If the scanner's display locks up or does not work properly after you
connect power, you might have to reset the scanner. 

Caution:  This procedure clears all the information you have programmed
          into the scanner. Before you reset the scanner, try turning it
          off and on to see if it begins working properly. Use the
          following procedure only when you are sure your scanner is not
          working properly.

 1.  Turn off the scanner.

 2.  While you press and hold down the 2 and 9 keys, turn on the scanner.
