General Charging Hints

It is normal for the battery pack to become warm while charging.

For best results:

Charge battery packs in an area between 60.8 and 86 degrees F (16 and 30
degrees C). Battery packs cannot be fully charged when they are cold.
If the area is too warm, they can permanently lose their ability to
  charge.

Do not try to charge other battery pack sizes by connecting the battery
pack's terminals to the charging contacts with a piece of metal.

Operation

1. Plug the supplied adapter's barrel plug into the jack on the back of
the charger. Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard AC
    outlet.

CAUTION: You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies 9 volts DC
and delivers at least 1000 mA. Its center tip must be set
to negative and its plug must fit the charger's jack. The
supplied adapter meets these specifications. Using an
adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage
              the charger or the adapter.

Note: The charger's indicators flash when in use. If both slots are
           empty, the indicators turn off.

2. Place the radio in RADIO on the charger and the spare battery pack in
BATTERY, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) inside the
slots. Fast charging begins and the display flashes slowly.

Note: If both the radio and spare battery are inserted in the slots
before the charger is plugged in, the battery pack in the radio
is charged first. If both are inserted after the charger is
plugged in, the first battery to be inserted will be charged
           first.

    Charging takes about 2-1/2 hours.

3. When a battery pack is fully charged, its indicator lights and the
charger begins trickle charging to maintain the battery pack at its
full capacity. Remove the battery pack (or the radio) from the
    charger.

Note: If the battery pack's indicator flashes rapidly, the battery
pack might be bad. Remove the pack from the socket and be sure
           that:

there is no debris in the socket.

the battery pack is securely connected to the radio (if it is
             connected).

the battery pack is seated firmly in the socket.

4. After each charge, unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet.

WARNING: To prevent damage to your charger and risk of shock, always
unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet before you unplug it
          from the charger.
