Remember I retired in the stone age when a computer was a really good word processer, now I'm back and trying to catch up. If a microphone picks up sound viberations why doesn't it pick ultra sonic sound waves or does it and we just can't hear them when we play them back. Heres one for you guys at CS Custom or anyone else who knows the answer. My cell phone is both anolog and digital. I understand it knows the difference (yes it is a living thing) by the signal transmitted by the Cell site. Could the chip in my phone be modified (programed) to receive all digital phone calls as well as anolog? A freq. counter and scanner runs thru the freq.'s until it receives a signal. Can a transmitter be programed to run thru the freq.'s and emitt a short burst of sound at each freq. A spark gap generator will place noise all over the RF spectrum but is dangerous. Can a chip be programed to do the same thing? More than 2 solutions, these worked for me in my past with shady landlords. 1: Come in....anytime....your welcome....help yourself.....Do you know the secret words are that prevent's my dogs from killing you? No? We'll, It's a secret. If I told you....it would not be a secret. 2: Move out. Lot less effort. 3: Change the locks. If he asks "why" you changed the locks. "Well...why did you need to come in"?. If there is an emergency, they'll knock down the door. I like option number 2. I'm not one to be passive with agression. I beleive if your going to strike....do it so it is felt. Striking 2 times means you didnt do a good job the first time. If you sincerely feel as if your landlord has violated you, I would suggest investing in a little surveillance equipment. Let's see what he is "really" doing. Personally, if he was caught on camera doing something in your apartment that is perverted or illigal.....i'de not only go to the police with it.....but I'de have a web site set up in 20 minutes with "his" story. You'de probably protected by a Freedom Of The Press laws. If you have a camcorder and are a little handy....ask this list for some guidance on how to modify a cheap IR motion detector to make it adaptable to your VCR and record from that. I'de make it as easy as I can for him to come in (like to catch him eh?)...but not put out an invitation to come in. Don't want him to cry "entrapment". If you dont have a camcorder, Spyking can hook you up with some neat little Chip Cams that are the best/lest expensive on the market. You can hide that thing just about anyplace. Easy to hook up. That's if you choose to fight back. I still like the moving idea the best. Some things....are just more trouble than they are worth. Hope it helped. hope I did not say anything that violated any laws. Ps- What state are you from. Close to Jersey? You know and I know what your capabilities > are............ now do you wanna tell them? or should I ? > XSAS Mr XSAS I do understand your point of view of different study programs. (Every one is entitled to their own opinion, but it's better to know what the training program is about before you complain! Some of us doesn't feel the need of "RAMBO COURSES!) However as the Chairman of the "PROFESSIONAL BODYGUARD ASSOCIATION" in the United Kingdom "Mr XSAS", I must say that you have shown just how professional you really are by your posting. And by the way, the one who should have done a check up before I attended your course... should have been you! Obviously "CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION" regarding names and who has trained with the PBA etc. can be published in way you please on public lists. (That's really professional, I'm impressed! ) I will also officially cancel my Executive membership at the PBA here and now. I do not feel that you are capable of treating confidential information, without spreading it as you please! I don't want to be associated with unprofessionalism like you have shown in your posting. As a second remark, you wrote: "You know and I know what your capabilities are............ now do you wanna tell them? or should I ?" Is this also a true way of a "professional"? I know that it's hard with competition, but anyone who claim to be so good as you do shouldn't have a problem with that! I know that your attempt to establish your self on the US market didn't work. How many approvals do you have by state dept's in the US today? And when it comes to competes and professionalism in training, I know that I do not train my students in the garage of my own house! I do at least have the support of a regiment (Royal 10:th Armor) which premises and barracks we are using. If your that good, how come you don't have any real training facility, weapons or shooting range? I'm truly sad that I misjudged you for a professional Mr XSAS (I won't be as unprofessional to revile your name) but it would have been a bit more honest to sign a post like yours. But on the other hand, it takes a man to stand for his opinion! In regards of your insult to "Joe Sleuth". It's strange that you who claim to be a "World Authority in the CP sector" haven't even got 1/3 of the time in the business compared to Joe! (you better get your facts strait and a little tips, how are you going to explain to your "members" in the future that they can trust you with personal information) Well, to conclude this posting, My apology for "Mr XSAS" unprofessional attitude. I do really encourage each SLF member to visit the PBS web page and get their own opinion of this organization! But be aware, don't give them your name or any other personal information. You may judge by your self, how the "world authority" "Mr XSAS" treats your "CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION"! The expression "Watch your back" does suddenly get a new angle... doesn't it? Depending on the type of lens attachment you are using you should be able to find an adapter kit for your 35 mm camera to one of several spotting scopes. These scopes have variable power but the adapter kits require that you remove the eyepiece. The reason they work as an aid to low light photography is that the objective lens is large and has some light gathering capability. I have used this with a camcorder and a Bushnel spotting scope. You may also speak with professional photographers and get some coaching on "pushing" the ASA of the film. Practice under conditions similar to operational settings. Black and white film is available in higher ISO than colour. (as far as I know) For those of you with IR photographic capability, consider using IR chemlites as an IR sourse to illuminate an area. You may find this particularly useful for illuminating the interior of a car. Gain access to the vehicle. Stick a mini IR chemlight half way under the edge of the visor. ************************************************************************** 7)From: "Marc E. He then goes on the ask : Q. Wouldn't it more effective to use a direct line to security than to broadcast such an announcement? 1A: Your thought that it was deterrance is probably right. Additionally, the site may have a policy to use this announcement to enhance the legal signage . Q. Could the cameras even be multi-plexed in a way that they would be able to record all at the same time? Aren't all the cameras recording all the time anyway? 1A. Sure, though they may have an older sequencer. Besides, its difficult to catch much wrongdoing on live CCTV (try watching a bank of monitors for a half an hour). Perhaps they are substituting this announcement for the paltry outlay necessary for a sequencer -- or even a recorder. :) Q. Might it be a code for some other action needed? 1A. Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of a store detective staff. Could be a code for "your coffee break is over, get back to work". Night-vision technologies continue to proliferate in the civil sector. Innovative applications already on the market include a real-time video crib monitoring system using low-level infrared light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to illuminate the subject while leaving the room dark. The monochrome image can be viewed on a portable monitor or with the "picture-in-picture" feature of some television sets. This low-cost technique also can be used for "stealth" or nonintrusive surveillance applications, nighttime vehicular "blindspot" protection while backing-up and alarm site verification, according to Don Lake, general manager for VLSI Vision Ltd. of San Jose, Calif. The LEDs emit light around the 910-nanometer wavelength, just outside the visible range but able to be picked up by simple, single-chip television cameras. Computerized systems could monitor automobile seats, for instance, and set airbag deployment appropriate to occupant size. ---------------- INSIDE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY -- Friday, October 24, 1997 EC Rejects U.S. Plan for Key To Encrypted Signals European Commission officials rejected plans to give digital key access to government and law enforcement agencies, a move which could doom a Clinton Administration plan to include a back-door key to all encrypted communications. In a recently published report, the European Commission said any U.S. legislation that gave government and law enforcement use of a "digital key" to access encrypted, private communications "would constitute a serious threat to the Internal Market and would hinder the development of electronic commerce." Without worldwide acceptance of digital key access, Internet users could transmit encrypted communications through nations not participating. U.S. lawmakers have been struggling with the balance between national security and personal privacy - enough to stall progress on any legislation and make it unlikely that any measure suitable to both the House and Senate would come up for a vote before Congress' 1998 session. ************************************************************************** 21)From: "John T. Ward" Subject: VOA to be dismantled All, My mother worked at this station during World War II. John WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) - A relay station built to broadcast American propaganda to Nazi Germany is likely headed to the scrap heap. The 600-acre Voice of America site about 20 miles north of Cincinnati was closed in 1994 when VOA was consolidated with Radio Free Europe and other U.S. overseas broadcasting efforts. Part of the land should be sold for business development and the rest used for a high-tech learning center, public golf course and recreational facilities, according to suggestions in a preliminary report released Tuesday by the General Services Administration, the government's housekeeping agency. Several federal agencies must approve any uses of the property, which sits in a fast-growing area and is valued at $600 million. The station was once the world's most powerful radio transmitter. At the start of World War II, most of the major world powers except the United States were broadcasting propaganda throughout Europe and Asia. Japan had 42 transmitters and Germany had 68 by 1941. The U.S. government approved the Bethany Relay Station's construction the next year. It opened in 1944 with 24 shortwave antennas and six 200,000-watt transmitters. "The most powerful AM stations of that day were 50,000 watts," said Clyde Haehnle of Cincinnati, an engineer who helped the VOA's war effort. "We boosted what we had with highly directional antennas, which in effect gave us the power of 20 million watts." The station sent signals to South America, north Africa and western Europe. It even gained the attention of Adolf Hitler, who once referred to "The Cincinnati Liars" in a speech, Haehnle said Wednesday. Haehnle said they constantly had to thwart efforts by Germany and Japan to jam the signals. "We once taped a Russian program and then played it on our frequency and the jammers got all confused," he said. "It was a real game. We played it all during the war." ************************************************************************** 22)From: "Scott Rennie" Subject: Re: Child Abuse Leah Wesolowski wrote: <
