I guess I am not up on it as well as others but I have a question.
It has always seemed to me that a GSM scanner could be built by taking a GS=

phone and altering it's software.
It has the receiver set for all hte channels, the discriminator, the I.F.,
everything that is needed.

The only difference is the reciever is controlled by the tower for hand-off=

by way of hand shakes.

Why can't the software be changed to be controlled by a lap top.

I have a Panasonic CellTell in my mini museum in the lobby of the lab. Thi=
s
analog cell phone was a mobile bag phone by original design, changed to be
used for L.E. phone interception.
10 numbers on the B side and 10 numbers on the A side could be programmed
in. And when one of those target phones were used the CellTell would work
as a listeniung station.

Some may point out that the digital world requires handshakes and key
exchanges, but if you don't want to talk you may not need to creat the
secure connection.
