9600 baud capable radios

I was unable to find any resource listing 9600 capable radios, so I am offering one based upon my research and input from others. Some of these radios may be able to go higher than 9600, and some may be listed as being 9600 capable but just not really up to the job.

26 January 2005 - After some emailed requests, I have made available sources for Crystals for TEKK data radios.

3 March 2002 - BER (Bit Error Ratio) is a good measure of performance. I made this chart to indicate which is good. Also includes TX delay information.

Comments and additional information welcome. Prices and specifications as of July 4, 1998.

TNC Radios - Radios with a built-in TNC. More money, no fuss!

Data Only Radios - designed just for packet, they are small, cheap, and supposedly reliable. They are crystal controlled, so they aren't good for jumping from one digipeater to the next. Probably best suited for use in digipeaters/repeaters, or dedicated links.

General Purpose Radios - Voice radios that supposedly do 9600. They generally cost a bit more, but don't require crystals. Some of the older radios require modifications. I don't know that these synthesized radios will have the stability and quick T/R switching neccessary for high quality packet. All radios are mobile unless noted.
