View Full Version : Why..

Why is it that you can find iecustom.dll, normaliz.exe and normaliz.dll ALL OVER the internet, but not one single tutorial on how to do it yourself. As if I'm gonna download someone's home-made file for my internet browser.. (That wasn't a cry for help - just a rhetorical question..)

Why do you feel "compelled" to share your "rhetorical question" with our readers?

Do you not get enough attention at home when you complain about something?

And again, I'm wondering where the heck you learned how to SEARCH!

Why not try something like:

modify iecustom.dll

in google and read some of the entries. I got 239 hits, some of which are directly discussing "modifying" the .dll.

I copy n pasted "modify iecustom.dll" and only got 89 results. You using GOOGLE steroids edition? I'm not arguing - just want to know how you got so many results. No hard feelings.

Did your listing include the quote marks? If so, the search will only return hits which have the specific "modify iecustom.dll" in that sequence, while

modify iecustom.dll (without quotes)

will find all references to modify and iecustom.dll

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=modify+iecustom.dll&btnG=Google+Search

vs.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22modify+iecustom.dll%22&btnG=Search

The %22 is the quote marks!

Part of the "basics" of learning how to search.

EDIT: If you want to actually learn the "art" of searching, I can't recomment anything better then the Searchlores link at the bottom of these pages, maintained by +Fravia, who was the originator of these Forums.

Yea - I dropped the quotes. In fact using the quotes yielded zero results.

Beleive me - I can find anything on google. But why waste precious reversing time when I can spend my time here on your impressive forum seeking advice from scholars who have already discovered a solution. I mean, I don't know anyone who makes their own medicine when they fall ill - except maybe the Chinese. We go to a doctor who has most of the answers and can tell us where the solution is.

PS. I'm reading a how-to guide right now. http://extended64.com/blogs/rafael/archive/2005/07/28/1051.aspx

It's short and sweet so far..

If "Bypass Windows Genuine Advantage check in IE7" was actually what you wanted to accomplish, why the heck did you not search for THAT?

That phrase gets 152,000 hits and is actually quite "old news"!

"Seeking advice from scholars who have already discovered a solution" instead of doing your own homework is about to get to relegated to the "goner" user group.

I did search for that - all I get is download options. I want to patch the file myself. Like I said - I'm a little hesitant about installing home-made patches for my browser - bit of a security issue.

"Patch the file" is a meaningless term which covers too wide a range to be relevant.

You want to patch the program to do "WHAT"? Work without "verification" or customize it's "look and feel" or what? And have you searched for how to do "whatever it is you want to do?"

If you really can find anything through google, then why not share your skill with us, I think Fravia will be happy to publish your article/essay whatever...

If I'm not mistaken, we are here to share our skill and knowledge. Right?
I never think I'm wasting my time, whenever my browser shows this forum.

Perhaps some of you haven't "noticed" the malikah has joined the "goners" and is no longer permitted to post in these Forums.

He did re-register, not realizing "we" would know who he was, but we are still watching "him" and have our finger on the "goner" button if he repeats his errant ways again.
