My OS is WinMe(4.90Build3000). I installed Softice4.05 but it is not getting loaded at all. I read on the net that the problem is with IO.SYS.
So i downloaded WinMeDBUG.exe from Micrsoft. I followed the directions but my PC refused to boot! I had to reinstall WinMe. Please tell me how can I make Softice work on my OS? Or please suggest me some other debugger which works like softice on WinMe?

Before you install wme_ddk you should copy your old IO.SYS from the root to another directory. In the future you can replace the new one in case you want to reboot without softice or vice-versa.
Also if you have a problem booting, you can press F8 for the boot menu, choose the last one, and type NO when it asks you to load debugger.exe.

Then install the wme_ddk and put this debugger.exe (attatched to this message) in your windows directory, also rename it to debug.exe and put that one in the windows directory, too. It's a special exe that loads softice instead of the windows debugger.

After you install SoftICE make sure you have copied your winice.dat, winice.exe, and siwvid.386 from the softice directory to your windows directory.

Last of all, search google for wmldr.zip and copy loader.exe to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32\ because some of the API's won't load into softice.

Then reboot and have fun.
