I am trying to install SI 4.05 on WinME 4.9 3000 using the loader and every time I boot I see that SI loads but breaks with an error code (Break due to invalid op code fault (06h)) in address 0028:0000000B LOCK SUB EAX, [ESI*2].

I also tried to load Softice with MS/NUMEGA solution of WinME DDK and this one seize the computer every time.

I have tried various INIT config such as "faults off" and more but it always break with the same error code 06h.

I tried for days now and I need your help. How can I make it work?

Hello there
I had problems with softice when I installed it on winme. I didn't seem to load. I didn't investigate the problem very long. I just uninstalled the new windows and went back to win98.
I thought that I need to upgrade softice to a newer version....
Is there any other way to solve this?
thanx

1. which build of SI?

2. what kind of loader do you need to *install* SI? if you meant *loading* it during boot and this loader happens to be wmldr, did you properly follow the installation instructions?

3. speaking of installation, are the SI files at their proper place? i recall winice.dat is not automatically copied to %windir% during install for example.

I found the problem...it turns out I had the wrong video driver installed under SI. It works fine now and I thank you all for your support.
