Whenever i set a BPR in softice my comp crashes.
The softice window stays on the screen, the cursor stops flashing and the scroll bars on the right side disappear.
Caps lock still turns on\off and ctrl+alt+del still reboots but other then that nothing works.

My tracebuffer is set at the default 8kb.

The BPR command itself doesen't crash but as soon as i press F8,F5 or even type t + enter it crashs with the exception that typing t + enter scrolls down one to a new black empty line.

With " BPR t " it allways crashs with "BPR r " it ussaly crashs or just doesen't work anyway and never breaks.

I tried this several times while breaking in several different programs and it still allways crashs.
Using win95b 2.1

Anyone have any idea what's the problem or how to fix it?

I tried searching google.com for 'softice bpr freeze'
also with replacing 'softice' with 'sice' and replacing 'freeze' with 'stuck' finding nothing related to my problem.
the only thing i saw was someone mentioning having the problem with "ASPROTECT" but i allways have the problem even without running any programs.

Other then this i dont seem to have any other problems with softice.

Softice's BPR is quite buggy (if u read some good docs u will also find out why)
your problem might be win95b 2.1..I used Win95 osr2 and BPR worked quite well, but never your version

The problem woulden't be between ver 2.0 and 2.1.
to get 2.1 you just download a simple patch from ms that only updates only a few things and adds some usb support.

I don't know what docs your referring to about BPR being buggy in
"SoftICE Internals" it doesen't mention it.
Thought still buggy still means it works sometimes.
It never works for me

well if the update to 2.1 is just that probably out of question=/
what cpu do u have? and how much amount of ram?

Yes, i fixed the problem
It was the memory.
I dont know why but when i setup softice before and set "PHYSMB" to the correct value of my memory it didnt work for some reason so i set it to a lower value.
Now i tried setting "PHYSMB" to the correct value of my memory and softice worked and BPR now works.
hmm dont know why it doesen't mention somewhere that if PHYSMB isen't configured correctly bpr wont work..

methinks this happens exclusively in windows 95, with 98 and ME works ok with "wrong" amount of ram in winice.dat
