I have a very strange problem ! I Have downloaded Numega SoftIce 4.2.7 build 562. I also promise not to include links to bad things. I have windows xp SP1. when I install it and restart my PC everythinh is OK, by pressing ctrl+d softice pops up and works ! but when I restart my computer again and start NTICE service and press ctrl+d, it doesnt pop up and just system freeze ! but typing "x+[Enter]" it releases system ! it seems it is working but there is nothing visible, I set some breakpoints too ! (when it was invisible) It worked ! but I dont see anything just everything is freezed ! this was my last problem so I decided to change my OS to win 2000 advanced server to resolve it ! but when it loads siwvid.sys windows crashes winth KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED !
anyone can help plz ?

There is much discussion here already about the operation of Sice and XP. Generally, none of the versions prior to 3.0 seemed to work well with XP, but 3.0 and 3.1 seem to have solved most of those problems.

What you need to do first is follow the directions of the BIG RED LETTERS at the top of the Forums and do your own search here using "Softice" and "XP" and/or "Sice" and "XP" or other combinations of those general terms. For example, using "softice problems XP" I got 27 threads including some discussing "crashing" on startup of softice.

After you have reviewed those threads, come back and discuss how your problems are not solved by what has already been discussed before. That is what the "Search" button is intended to provide, a means to review all the prior discussion of your issue.

Dear JMI, I have searched the whole web ! not just this forum ! but found nothing useful ! I have studied many docs but I couldnt find anything like mine ! my problem is that it works but just once after install, I thought may be some one on this forum had this problem before, so I asked.

Perhaps you need to move to DS 3.0 and above...?

Consider updating your video drivers. I had a similar problem on my laptop, but after updating the video drivers, everything was fine.

try using DS. cause i have tried nearly everything and every video mode to solve the same problem. softice only showed after a fresh install. nothing worked. now im using DS 3.1

Try downloading the sp4 patch and os.dat from the compuware softice updates page. I had a similar problem, updating fixed it.

I had similar problem with starting SI 2.7 on WinXP SP1 and it helped my to resolve it.
