Things have changed since I last visited this forum... So have the tools...

I downloaded and started IDA 4.8 ten minutes ago I was suprised with what I saw... I used to use IDA <415 I was quite comfortable with it...

I have couple of problems with IDA 4.8:
1) No code/data addresses shown, no xrefs shown and stuff like that (resolwed )
2/3) "C" is used to convert something to code (same as before), but now it converts only ONE line of code. Previously the autoanalisys would kick in
Also on defaults when I use IDA 4.8 I get only half ot WinMain dissasembled and it stops... If I use IDA 415 on the same file I get usable dissasembly . But I want 4.8's debugger...

Any advice would be nice

Edit: 418 was a typo, corrected to 4.8

I just give you advice not to use that weird 418 but try to find something newer. v4.8 is out and it works perfect (not sure about debuger, i don't use it) and i don't know for how long you haven't been here but maybe advice to use OllyDbg for debuging won't be outdated.

Definitely,

If you are going to use Ida, use a much newer version - 4.8.0.847 even has 64 bit support.

Not many people use the debugger, usually SICE, or Olly.

I just need the debbuger for a couple of seconds so I don't want to install SICE, I will if I have to... What is the latest version of SICE? Does it work ok on winXP+sp?

Sorry, I am using 4.8, that 418 was a typo . When I press "C" it converts only one line of code??? Is this normal, or am I missing something??

I was last here when the board was run by tsehp, revirgin was v0.99 (distant 2001.), and thing were much simpler...
