i hav tried REPAIRE 0.6 and also WINDOW HACKER trick but not helped me x-protector always close it down without any error i wonder why its not patched yet

Look, it's not that I particularly want to be a pain in your ass (or anybody elses, for that matter), but have you searched the board yet? Or did you just decide to whine because noone patched your filemon for you?

Did you read this post? Did you try the things mentioned in there? Are you completely sure, that the problems Laola met are all covered by your RE tools?

So maybe I'm blind - at least I'm not an arrogant bitch wannabe. When my tools don't do the job, I open up a debugger, a disassembler and a hex-editor, instead of whining about it.

But, this is not one of them! Here, you have be a little more specific.

It is appreciable that you have tried to crack by trying to hide filemon. But you must be more specific than simply mentioning that you tried. What did you actually do? What did the program do? How did you run it? We like to see some work done.

A simple thing would be to first try and see how your s/w detects filemon. Mostly, it could be using the class name. Download the source, randomize the class name and the compile that copy of filemon. Everytime you run it, it will have a different class name.

If that does not work, then you have get at a windows internal levels. How is filemon capturing files? By using a driver? Then its possible that the software you are cracking is finding if the file streams are hooked. If they are, it assumes a monitoring program is on.

And yet, there are many many other ways your software can know it...

Also valid here would be a point that if you have never cracked before, stop trying to go so advanced. Instead try cracking Winzip v5 and MIRC v4 and above. They are simple, serial numbered and have no checks related to debugging or disassembling. Work it up and I am sure you'll be able to get upto speed real soon.

i had gone through the HIDA REGMON thread but i m not that much expert that i can patch like LAOLA did but i hav tried out the UNHOOKING by sdtrestore tool but after that my target aplication hangs the entire windows n i hav to shutdown
BTW i want to tell i m very much new thats why i hav named my ID WANNA-B i m not arrogant NOTHING AGAINST ANY1 BUT I WANT TO LEARN MORE N MORE

thanx man for the advice i will try it.And also yes i had tried alot of applicatons like winzip etc but don`t u think the filemon is the tool we use very often so it must b patched for X-PROTECTOR not for me but for all users !!

One thing you'll need to learn rather soon is that you cannot rely solely on your tools. Nowhere is this more true than in the constant faceoff between crackers and protectors. Witness asprotect: every time some ingenius joe made a new tool that would unpack an asprotected app, asprotect was changed just a little (or a lot), and the tool would be rendered more or less useless.
What's needed is not "the one, true tool" but knowledge. Read up whatever filemon and regmon essays you can find, and learn how to hide filemon yourself. Recognize that for every idea you get to hide filemon, the protectors will probably come up with new ways of discovering it. So specific "hide filemon" tools quickly become obsolete. Knowledge never does.
In the end, it comes down to whether or not you want to learn, or just want to crack stuff.
