In a decidedly tongue in cheek top ten list that would make David Letterman
proud, Salon's Technology Section celebrates Halloween by sharing the top
ten things that "haunt their dot-com dreams." ICANN, Microsoft, Disney,
America Online and George W. Bush are among the ten lucky subjects to secure
a spot on this most festive list.

Privacy International follows up its US focused Big Brother awards this past
spring with similar ceremonies in Austria, Germany and Switzerland at the
end of October. The awards honor a person, place or thing who has done the
best job of violating the privacy rights of citizens. Not surprisingly,
none of the winners were available to accept their awards.

"Smart shirts" may become the wave of the present considering how they may
make it possible for owners to have their locations tracked alongside their
pulse and heartrate. And for the fashion conscious, you have a choice of
"smart shirt" designs to select from. Although it sounds creepy, at least
it's washable.

Politically motivated pranksters have rerouted visitors attempting to access
the official Web site of Ion Iliescu, former leftist President of Romania
who is currently a strong contender for reelection. Instead of finding the
political information they are looking for, Internet users are bounced
directly to a list of the FBI's most-wanted fugitives. Iliescu's team is in
the process of trying to identify the responsible party.

Someone using the handle n1nor infiltrated AntiOnline's homepage and
replaced its front page with one containing a rather targeted rant against
John Vranesevich, one of the security site's founders. A website that is
certainly no stranger to a barrage of attempted break-ins, AntiOnline's
vulnerability appears to have been discovered in the Perl scripting.
