The utility that enables people to copy DVD disks, DeCSS, has been
posted to Download.com. DeCSS was created by the Norwegian group
"Masters of Reverse Engineering" who found weakness in the DVD
encryption implementation. The RIAA has recently been pressuring people
who have hosted this file to remove it claiming that it violates
copyright laws.

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service has reported the theft of
top secret files from the back seat of an agent's car. It is believed
that the thieves did not know what they had and just threw the files
away. (Hey, lets not forget about physical security.)

18 year old student Edwin Lim Zhaoming pleaded guilty to 17 charges of
breaking into the Mediacity, the Television Corporation of Singapore's
website. The teen, who renamed the site "Mediashity" last June 15, will
be sentenced at a later date. His accomplice, a 15 year old Myanmar
national was sentenced to 12 months probation and 100 hours of
community service.

The web site of Hong Kong's Department of Highways which originally
offers bilingual information and guides regarding HK's road system was
defaced Friday night. The intruders changed the index page into one
with a white background and three lines of quotes from various people.
