FZC /DOS

The latest full and tested version is 1.05c for DOS, released Feb 26 1999.

Using Windows 95/98? Go to the Swedish Software Alliance homepage and download FZC Interface, a great Windows frontend for FZC that hides most of the complexity from the user.

NOTE: if you have any questions please read the online FAQ. Just run FZC without any switches in the command-line and select "FAQ" from the help menu.

Some Win95/98/NT issues:

Long filenames are not supported. Use the short name of the zip file or rename it.
The names of the encrypted files aren't important unless you want to use the "!" option -- then it must be a valid 8.3 DOS filename.
The AutoSave feature does not always work right under windows. It may take much more than the specified time to call the save routine.

FZC /WIN

I'm porting FZC to Win32. It still lacks some features, but, considering the speed gains, it may be worth a try.
Don't expect a nice GUI (or a GUI at all): it's command-line driven, just like the DOS version.

Arghh! Some antivirus software (eg F-PROT 3.04a) is claiming FZC.EXE is infected by an unknown virus. It's not. If you get a warning from your antivirus, please follow their standard procedures to report a new virus (like mailing the exe to tech support) -- they will tell you it's a false alarm and (hopefully) fix their software soon.
