Autopsy Says It Was Accidental Overdose

Anna Nicole Smith, whose life of sex, glamour and money left behind an intricate legal snarl, died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, Florida officials said today.

This case is an accidental overdose with no other criminal elements present," Preper said. He said that the investigation included interviews with numerous individuals, the examination of video tapes and of two laptops computers.

Stern Was With Anna When She Died

Smith and Stern arrived at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel on Feb. 5 and expected to leave several days later after Stern completed arrangements to buy a yacht. Stern testified that Smith appeared to be suffering from a stomach flu when she died.
 

Mother Says It Was Stern

Her mother, Virgie Arthur, pointedly noted that Smith's last companion, Howard K. Stern, was present during her daughter's death and the death of Daniel Smith, Anna's son. The implication was that Stern was responsible.
