Just A Rural Town

The elder Bixbys move here in 1989 for a small town independence.

   

What Happened

In 2004, Steven Bixby, 37, and his father Ralph Bixby, 75, chased some highway workers off their property. They were appealing an illegal ruling to the state commission.

 
   

A Deputy Confronts Bixby

A Sheriff deputy, Danny Wilson, comes to the door, Bixby tells him to leave, "You don't have a warrant". Bixby slams the door, the deputy kicks it in, and there is a shooting. Wilson is hit with a 7mm magnum, which would have cut him in two, but Bixby decides to handcuff him?

 
   

Second Deputy Arrives

Neighbors called the police saying a cop was shot, and numerous cars responded. Supposedly patrolman Ouzts just walked up to the door, and was shot in the back. The bullet didn't match any of Bixby's guns.
   

Police Authorities Confused

Public Safety spokesman Sid Gaulden said; Wilson was found inside the home. Authorities would not say which one first went to the house.

   
   

Dr Gagnon

A Jewish Chiropractor to the rescue. Gagnon says that Bixby's mother called him, he and his partner, raced to the gunfight. As the 'Doc' arrives he sees the second deputy, yells, as the deputy turns, the Bixbys shoot him in the back.

Bixby's 75 Yr-Old Mother

According to the SPLC account, Rita took an entire apartment complex hostage. She wasn't charged for that, but as an accessory to her son's crime. Another account has her as a police hostage.

 
   

SWAT Has A Field Day

SWAT is flown in, followed by a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division armored tank. At one point, nearly 200 law enforcement agents were shooting into the shack.

A constant barrage of gunfire, up to a thousand rounds of ammunition in five minutes, emanated from the small house, thwarting attempts by police to retrieve Wilson's body or capture the residence. So heavy was the gunfire, in fact, that the police had to be resupplied several times with ammunition. Media estimates have pegged the actual number of rounds fired in the tens of thousands.
   

Bixby Surrender

Around 10 p.m., Steven Bixby called out to surrender. After he'd been secured, a robot was sent inside to find the 75 yr-old Arthur. He was in a back bedroom in critical condition.

How Did The SPLC Get Involved

When did these clowns get involved with their 'Militia Watch' and Abbeville? They want the state to go for the death penalty on the mother.

What Really Happened?

The 75 yr-old parents had a construction crew illegally leveling their property. They sent letters to the state, with no results. The 38 yr-old son came over to protect the father. An obnoxious deputy got into an altercation, kicked down the door, and was shot. A second deputy shows, and is shot by another party, probably his backup.

The fact that the SPLC is involved, means anything could have happened. Maybe a local Sayanim saw an ripe application for their anti militia drive.

Absolutely nothing makes any sense, handcuffing a dead cop, a second cop just walking up to the house. A SWAT team that shows up immediately, and fires 10,000 rounds into a small shack.
