I, myself, can clearly remember back to 1953 Skokie, Ill, all my
childhood friends, and memories. One of my closest baseball friends was
Ishmael Bronski, a little boy, but with a heart of gold. It was
our first Christmas, and his dad was serving in the Korean war, so my
mother invited him over. Our family was Irish Catholic, and there was no
such thing as birth control, we literally had 125 aunts, uncles and
cousins screaming around the house.
Ishmael said it was the best Christmas he ever had, so many children
to play with. The next year I went to his house for Hanukkah, but it was
just his sister and parents. I turned and asked him, where are your
grandparents, your aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ishmael looked
puzzled, he turned to his Momma, who started to tear up, and then she
said: - "G_d took them all".
