I am hard put to see a graduate student throw everything away for Holocaust Revisionism, a subject that no one even cares about. So what could be their impetus, one possibility is this is just another typical Hate Hoax, or maybe they are creating a fishbowl, and taking names.

One of the strangest cases, that seems similar, was that of Frank Collin (nee Joseph Cohen), a 1978 Nazi who re-invigorated the Holocaust Genre. Collin was the monster who marched on Skokie, got national attention, then quietly faded. Then, through the power of the internet, in 2000 Collin was discovered to be a Jewish fraud.
