Abraham Levy

M Abraham Levy, Baron Levy (born 11 July 1944) is a Labour member of the British House of Lords. A friend of the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, Lord Levy has acted as his special envoy to the Middle East since 2002. Levy was arrested in connection with the "Cash for Peerages" inquiry.

A Krakow Immigrant

Born in Stoke Newington, North London, to devout Jewish immigrant parents of modest means, Levy was educated at Grocers, later known as Hackney Downs Grammar School, where he became head boy.

Started As A Rock Promoter

Started out as an accountant, scammed his way into the music business, finally selling his Magnet Records to Warner Brothers in 1988 for £10m.

Started Another Record Company

After Magnet Levy set up M&G Records, it was sold to Polydor Records in 1997. Did he pay taxes on the correct sale amount?

Lord Levy The Fundraiser

Levy now becomes a Jewish fundraiser. He raises £60m for 'Jewish Care' between 1988-1994, an amalgam of Jewish charitable organizations, of which he is now President.

In 1994 He Becomes Political

Levy first met Tony Blair at a dinner party in 1994, and soon became close friends and tennis partners. Levy ran the Labour Leader's Office Fund to finance Blair's campaign before the 1997 General Election and received substantial contributions from such figures as Alex Bernstein and Robert Gavron, both of whom were ennobled by Blair after he came to power.

Appointed England's Envoy To The Mideast

Levy has close ties with the Israeli Labour Party and maintains a home in Tel Aviv, and is considered "a leading international Zionist".

Tax Dodger

He owns two mansions, has an estimated worth of £20 million, an income of £1.5 million, but only paid £5,000 in 1998 taxes. You would figure a Zionist in charge of a £60 charity would 'Wet his beak' a little.

A Hate Hoax

He claims he was assaulted in 2003, in his Totteridge mansion. Levy said, "Attackers beat him and his wife, and fled with £80,000."

Special Envoy To Israel

Since 2002, he has acted as the Prime Minister's personal envoy to the Middle East.

Arrested For Selling Titles

On 12 July 2006, Lord Levy was arrested by Scotland Yard's for the "Cash for Peerages" controversy. Levy raised £14 million for the Labour Party had raised by selling  peerages.
