Unfortunately, we cannot afford unlimited hardware and internet connect charges. With our limited bandwidth we have found it is necessary to ration access to anonymous FTP to 5 users at a time so that our system is useable for our work and for people who have paid for accounts.
We would love to have a server that could support 100 anonymous FTP users at once so that everyone could access our unique files more readily. To further this goal we decided to offer Premium FTP Accounts to raise money to get an ISDN connection.
Some people may feel that we are selling out from the Information wants to be free ideal by selling access to our files. The reality though is that internet connectivity costs real dollars and if we are to grow and offer more people access, the money has to come from somewhere. We are committed to all our files always being available by anonymous FTP because we know some people cannot afford to pay.
