.:: Single Transistor Flyback Circuit ::.

Source: http://tacashi.tripod.com/elctrncs/inverter/inverter.htm

The single transistor flyback driver is a very useful circuit in that is allows you to drive a flyback transformer using minimal parts. The circuit is very heavy duty and reliable. One thing you must take note of is that the pickup coil for the flyback must be wound in the same direction as the flyback primary, otherwise the top and bottom pickup coil wires must be swapped in the circuit. Older flybacks tend to be much easier to add a pickup coil to, but just about any transformer can be modified. The pickup coil can typically be from two to six turns of magnet wire. Resistance values and number of primary turns can be adjusted. If you are making a custom primary then six to ten turns are recommended.
