Welcome to yet another media non-event. The much hyped and ballyhooed CIH
1.2 that was going to destroy the world has come and gone. Sure a few
folks where probably burned but it was nothing like most media outlets
would have you believe. Of course all of the blame can't go onto the
media, The Anti-Virus companies themselves helped to fan the flames. For
those that don't know CIH will not only delete files stored on the hard
drive of a system, it also attempts to corrupt the flash BIOS, (if you
have one). Just another Virus that only effects Microsoft customers. I
love being MS Free.

This is not a normal source for us to get a story from but Playboy
magazine has published a totally sensational and romantised version of how
Richard Smith tracked down the creator of the Melissa Virus.

The University of Washington's department of civil and environmental
engineering had its web page defaced last Thursday evening. (Whoopee, I'm
not really sure how something like this makes it into the local paper.)
