Handling Self-Extracting ZIP Files
- MS-Windows: Use 'Winzip' to open and extract
the .exe file.
Make sure you have the option 'Use Directory Names' selected, to
re-build the directory tree that is required for the installation process.
(32-bit versions of Winzip call this option 'Use Folder Names').
If you do not have the Winzip program, open a MS-DOS box and follow
the procedure as described for MS-DOS.
- MS-DOS: Move to the directory where you
saved the .exe file. To extract the compressed software under MS-DOS,
type the filename at the DOS prompt, followed by the command line parameter
-d
For example:
C:cd temp
C:\temp\WP450_1.EXE -d
If you would like to create new installation floppy disks, add the parameter a:
For example:
C:\temp\WP450_1.EXE -d a:
The command line parameter -d will re-build
the directory tree that is required that is required for the installation
process. The parameter a: will have the file extracted to a floppy disk in drive A:\ of your computer.
